This section of the website is dedicated to the history of Rothersthorpe in both old photographs and narrative.
Background
My Great, Great, Great Grandparents moved here in the 19th century settling initially in Kislingbury Road in the cottages in what was known at that point as New Thrupp. They worked mostly as farm labourers but also at the furnace in Hunsbury and many served in the military in both WWI and WWII.
I was born in Rothersthorpe and have lived her most of my life (moving away for a short while after I got married) so I have an affinity to the place.
The site was created as I felt that the village was under-represented when it came to photographs and narrative as to its origins and history. When I was at primary school there was a village elder called Mr Horn (more about him later) who used to take all of the children on walks around the village and educate us about the history of the houses.
Whilst gathering information for my own family tree I have been asking around for old photographs and information from the more 'mature' occupants of the village. This has led me to meet and chat with many interesting people who all had a tale tell and photographs to share with me.
Whilst you can not comment directly on the website you can comment on the Rothersthorpe History Facebook page Rothersthorpe History | Facebook or email me directly on jj281078@hotmail.com or call me on 07875478976.
The site is not yet complete and is still a work in progress! I have much to add to its contents.
If anyone has any comments about this section of the website or other old photographs which they would like to display then please do hesitate to contact me. All original photos will be treated with care and returned to their owners.
