Rothersthorpe Biodiversity Group
Rothersthorpe Parish Council is looking for an enthusiastic team of like minded volunteers to set up, drive and enhance biodiversity initiatives within our community.
The Rothersthorpe Biodiversity Group (RBG) will be an independent society and not form part of a Parish Council committee, but will be sponsored by the Parish Council who will take biodiversity guidance from the group.
Rothersthorpe Parish Council will be responsible for the ownership of any biodiversity enhancements on parish owned assets whilst RBG should feel empowered to:
- Be the leading authority in biodiversity issues across the Rothersthorpe Parish
- Provide advice, guidance & good ideas for Rothersthorpe homeowners
- Liaise with the school, landowners, organisations & charities across the parish / neighbouring parishes to implement biodiversity projects
- Seek fundraising & grant opportunities for village & landowner owned open space programmes
- Create content & news stories to be published in the Rothersthorpe Newsletter, Social Media & Parish Council Website
Biodiversity is much bigger than Parish Council ownership alone, it is something that everyone needs to be part of.
Can you support the wider Rothersthorpe Community in embracing biodiversity initiatives and improve wildlife corridors across the parish?
The Parish Council wants to empower a volunteer lead group to own biodiversity initiatives, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Northamptonshire Biodiversity Records Centre The home of quality ecological data for Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire Biodiversity Records Centre (NBRC) supports the recording, curation and sharing of quality verified environmental information for sound decision-making. We are a not-for profit, impartial, independent provider of biodiversity and geodiversity information for all who wish to use it.
The Wildlife Trust BCN mission is to create a wilder future by protecting and restoring wildlife and wild places across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire, for the benefit of both wildlife and people.
We work locally in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire and we have a big mission - we want to stop nature's decline.
It is no secret that nature is in trouble. Wildlife is disappearing at an alarming rate - some are calling it the next mass extinction - and the threat of climate catastrophe is a constant worry. We live in a time of emergency.
But there is still hope - we can tackle both of these critical issues - but we need to scale up and act now.
We work beyond nature reserves and develop Living Landscapes by working with landowners, local communities and local authorities to protect wildlife in the wider countryside beyond our nature reserves. This involves protecting Local Wildlife Sites, providing advice and expertise to local people in the management of green spaces and promoting a greater consideration for the importance of nature to our society.
